    The Lansing Area African American Genealogy Society (LAAAGS) is sponsoring an African American Family Genealogy Workshop to be held at the Capital Area Downtown Library, 401 S. Capital Ave., Lansing, MI 48901, Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Workshop is designed to jump start the beginning genealogist as well as enhance the research of advanced projects.  There will be handouts, hands-on guidance, and other materials that will allow you to start or improve your family research.
     You have probably seen the TV program on NBC “Who Do You Think You Are” where celebrities search for their ancestors, well this workshop will teach you how to do that right here in Lansing!  A keynote speaker will provide a how-to story and stimulate your appetite for writing your
own family history!  LAAAGS will help you get started at the Workshop!  All ages are invited to attend, this will be an excellent opportunity to involve your children in their family’s history.  The Workshop will showcase the newest techniques in genealogy software and online searching of family records.

  :: Online Searching and Genealogy Software
