Discussions ensued on the FHWGS anniversary meeting. There was some discussion on members attending. Jesse has not gotten any space for storage of LAAAGS materials. CADL said no, Lansing School District said no. Discussion continued on storage space. A committee volunteered to check on archival information space as well as storage space for general materials. Committee: Jesse, Willye, and Eva will check out sources and report back to the group. Melvin reported that generally his report was listed in the Fall LAAAGS Newsletter. Status of Book Project: Aggie has gotten all of Wilbur’s papers including Book Project information. She suggested we need to get the Book finished. Clarence and Larry met and decided the Project needs more organizing. A group met after the meeting to discuss the Project, they will report on this at the next meeting. Jesse reported an article will be in the LSJ, Sunday, October 10, 2004, on the Cream of Wheat model. He has been in touch with an individual in Leslie who has started a fund for White. Eva has written a grant to submit to Granger for the headstone. She will submit and report results. Jesse also talked about the Ghost Walk – there were no African American mentioned in the Walk. There are no African American members on the Board of the Lansing Historical Society, maybe we could be included and support something of that nature for Black people. Aggie asked if Jesse would provide names of Black people buried there, he said he would if someone would work with him. The matter was referred to the Executive Board. The Fall LAAAGS Newsletter was presented at the meeting for distribution. The meeting was adjourned at 10:35 a.m. Submitted by Willye Bryan LAAAGS Secretary |
