Minutes for Saturday, January 8, 2005

1. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order at 9:20 a.m. by Melvin Holley.
Members Present: Angela Corley, Brenda Henderson, Juanita Lewis, Mary Jane McGuire, Evelyn Primes, Larry Griffin, Arthur Glasscoe, Melvin Holley and Eva Evans
2. Approval of the December 11, 2004 Minutes
Motion to approve the December 11, 2004 minutes was offered & seconded; motion carried by unanimous vote.
3. Officer Installation
Newly elected officers were installed by former LAAAGS Secretary Brenda Henderson. New officers include: President, Aggie Lipscomb, Vice President for Programs, Melvin Holley, Secretary, Angela Corley and Treasurer, Juanita Lewis.

Melvin explained to the group that the Executive Board has discussed programming ideas for the remainder of the year. The idea of a Genealogical Workshop, centered around African American research was well received by the group. A target dates for such a program has been set for March 16, March 23 or March 9. Suggestions for keynote speakers included Dr. Harry Reed, Jennifer Wiskeman, Dr. Darlene Clark Hines or someone from the Fred Hart Williams Genealogical Society. In addition to a keynote address, workshop breakout session topics were also discussed. Members Larry Griffin, Eva Evan, Mary Jane McGuire and Angela Corley will provide a proposal at the next Exec Board Meeting in February.
Melvin also reminded the group that items for the next issue of the newsletter should be forwarded to Member Willye Bryan prior to January 29, 2005. The next issue is due out early February, 2005.

Annual Membership Dues were collected from members present. Amounts will be reflected in the next Treasurer’s report.
5. Monthly Programming
An On-Line Presentation was planned by Arthur Glasscoe and Melvin Holley. However, internet access was not available. This presentation will be rescheduled for another day.
