| Members present: Willye Bryan, Aggie Lipscomb, Jesse Lasorda, Juanita Lewis, Eva Evans, Evelyn Primes, Angela Corley, Arthur Glassco, Margaret Groves, Clarence Hooker, Melvin Holley. Meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m. A list was circulated for individuals present. The minutes were read and accepted as presented. Many members had copied the minutes from the LAAAGS web site: www.laaags.org. Treasurer’s report – Juanita Lewis: Balance forward: $986.56 Deposits Withdrawals 36.95 Howard Memorial 25.00 Balance $949.61 Aggie’s Report: The internet connection was available in the room, however no cables were available to use with the laptop brought by Arthur. We also learned that Frank Walker’s family has a piano that could be donated but cannot be moved from its present location. Janet Cook wants to join the group, she has a long history in Lansing. She has attended the Lansing Genealogical Council. Jesse spoke at that meeting about Frank White from Leslie – Cream of Wheat model. He has found lots of Black people living in Leslie in the 1800”s and early 1900’s. Discussion ensued on why the Black population declined in the early 1900’s. Mostly likely explanation was the beginning of the Great Migration from the South to the North. The vice-president talked about developing a curriculum for the group. He has structured two. He talked about how to concentrate on specific relatives. Find out all we can about relatives, organizations they belonged to, etc. Family and Pedigree charts, personal history, and a folder to document history – each time we meet we should have some segment of this information taught or explored. Willye reported on the web site updates. To date six emails addresses have been setup. The emails that have been setup are president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, query, and info. She reported that we have 18 email addresses available for use. Eva led the nomination process. The slate was presented and nominations were requested from the floor. Willye moved to accept the slate as presented, seconded by Margaret Groves. Motion carried. New slate of officers for 2005 are: President Mary A. Lipscomb Vice president Melvin Holley Secretary Angela Corley Treasurer Juanita Lewis The new officers will take office at the January 8, 2005 meeting. Arthur gave a short presentation on making CDs for your family history research. He volunteered to help anyone interested in doing a CD for themselves. Eva gave a presentation on the Book Project and how the meetings will flow. There was discussion on members who were assigned to do interviews. Other discussion on the Book Project ensued.
